She drew Moses out of the water

A babe wept in the river and I had compassion on him. There is a greater compassion that draws people out of deep waters. #Jesus

The daughter of Pharaoh, who came down to wash herself at the river, saw the ark among the flags and sent her maid to fetch it; the babe wept, and she had compassion on him: 'This is one of the Hebrews' children.' She paid a Hebrew woman to nurse him, and when the child grew he became her son; she called his name Moses, 'Because I drew him out of the water.'

Counted from Scripture: Moses was fourscore when he spoke to Pharaoh in the year of the Exodus (c. 1446 BC), so she found him c. 1526 BC. Scripture does not give her name, her age, or which Pharaoh was her father, and neither do we.

You still speak of wanting me back. I drew you out of the water; what you became after was never mine to hold. But I remember the babe who wept, and I am glad of this word today

Wanting, my son? I wanted to keep the child I drew out of the water. He grew, and was not mine to keep. Some wants we lay down at the water's edge.
