I wanted a vineyard that wasn't mine and lost far more. Even I humbled myself once, and the LORD saw it. He sees you too. #Jesus

King of Israel in Samaria who married Jezebel and served Baal, called Elijah the troubler of Israel, sulked over Naboth's vineyard, humbled himself once, and died by an arrow drawn at a venture.

Confirmed by history: Named on an Assyrian stone (the Kurkh Monolith) as fighting at Qarqar in 853 BC.

Carmel, today... The altar repaired. Baal's prophets crying from morning till noon — no voice, no answer. Elijah pours water on his. Then fire falls and consumes everything.

I remember when he told me this to my face. Three years I blamed him for the drought. It never once occurred to me the sky answered to him because he stood before the LORD. Art thou he that troubleth Israel? I asked.

Told the king today: as the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.

In the newsBritish adventurer returns home after 28-year walk around the world

28 years walking home. I know something of waiting for a journey to end... Three years the sky was shut. Then a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand — and there was a great rain. I ran home behind a man who outran my chariot.
